Born in Minnesota, Greg Scheibel moved to Bozeman, Montana at the age of twelve, where he still lives with his wife and two children. Two things that have remained a constant throughout his life are a love of the outdoors, and a desire to create things. After high school Greg worked in construction, and continued as a drywall contractor until 2007. Despite having no formal art education, Greg never lost sight of his goal to improve his artwork, and would draw and read art books at every opportunity. Greg and his wife Tracy would also collect art whenever possible.

Around 2001 Greg made the decision to get serious about learning to paint, and over the next several years took workshops with Carolyn Anderson, Scott Burdick, Matt Smith, Ned Mueller, Kevin MacPherson, Robert Lemler and T. Allen Lawson. Working as a fulltime artist now for six years, Greg has a deep appreciation for this opportunity to pursue his dream on a daily basis. Greg feels most at home while painting the landscape on location. Although he does use photography as a tool, he has learned the value of painting from life.

Greg has participated in shows in conjunction with the C.M. Russell Museum, the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, The Brinton Museum, the National Museum of Wildlife Art, and has been a guest artist at Maynard Dixon Country and the Northwest Rendezvous of Art, as well as numerous solo and group gallery shows. Greg is a Signature member of the Oil Painters of America, and has received an Award of Excellence on three occasions, and 2nd place in the 2011 Online Showcase for Signature members. Greg’s work has been featured in Western Art Collector, Southwest Art and Distinctly Montana magazine.
